Personal Statement
As a graphic designer turned visual artist, I have always seen nature as a miracle, the effortless way it creates patterns, shapes, and life. My work explores this magic, crafting artworks that feel organic and alive, existing somewhere between reality and imagination.
It all began when I started creating daily, not as a structured practice but as a personal need to feel alive, to observe, to understand, to connect. This became a turning point, revealing that art was not just something I did but how I experienced the world, how I made sense of life itself.
I am drawn to the hidden rhythms that shape existence, from the symmetry of wings to the chaos of microorganisms. Art is my way of paying attention. Through it, I celebrate the beauty and complexity of life, reinterpreting it through my imagination. Each piece is an exploration, a reflection of the unseen patterns that connect us to nature and to ourselves.

Bio
Olga Burkard is a Mexican-Swiss visual artist based in Geneva. Her abstract works explore the organic beauty of nature through intricate patterns, textures, and geometry. Her maximalist compositions feel both familiar and otherworldly, celebrating the extraordinary rhythms of life.
Her passion for patterns began in childhood, playing with fabric scraps in her mother’s tailor atelier in Mexico City, where she grew up. Surrounded by scientists, she developed a deep curiosity about how life works, often imagining the hidden structures and functions of the natural world beneath the surface.
In 2023, her artistic journey took a transformative turn when she started drawing every day as a personal ritual—a way to navigate a difficult moment. What began as a small creative habit soon became something much bigger. She realized that art was not just an outlet but a way of seeing, understanding, and fully embracing life.
Originally trained in graphic design, Olga studied at the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City and later at the Artschool in Basel, Switzerland, where she honed her skills in observation and experimentation. Over 30 years in editorial design and corporate branding sharpened her eye for detail and visual storytelling. In 2024, she transitioned to working as a full-time artist, deepening her exploration of organic abstraction.
Today, Olga continues to evolve her practice, blending different techniques to capture the essence of transformation and interconnectedness in life-forms. For her, art is a way of paying attention, an ongoing pursuit to understand the beauty, complexity, and essence of life itself.
